The Saarbahn operates four lines at the Ostbahnhof and Halbergstraße bus stops, both of which are only a few minutes‘ walk from the station. To get from the Ostbahnhof Saarbrücken to the Ostbahnhof bus stop, you have to walk down the stairs from the platform. As soon as you come out of the building, you have to turn right and walk past the car park. You can already see the street in the distance. Along the walls of the furniture factory you will eventually come out on the main road. To reach the bus stop, you have to turn left and walk up the slightly ascending hill. At the moment there are substitute bus stops in both directions due to construction work. The bus stop in the direction of Römerkastell is on the same level as the Asia Bistro and the cleaning company. The bus stop Ostbahnhof in the direction of Eschberg/ Ilseplatz is across the street.
The bus stops are served in both directions by lines 136 and 139. Buses leave here every hour. There is roofed seating on one side of the street only. The footpath is not heightened, so boarding the bus is not barrier-free either.
There is a direct bus connection between the bus stop Ostbahnhof and the bus stop Ilseplatz, which is directly at the HTW Saar Rotenbühl, without changing buses. Bus line 136 takes about 5 minutes between the stops and runs hourly in both directions.
You can find the timetable at the stops, in the SaarVV App and online at: www.saarfahrplan.de.

More information about Saarbrücken East Station:
The path to the Ostbahnhof is between the Möbelfundgrube and a snack bar along a car park. The station has only been used by regional trains since 2014/2015. There are two tracks: Track 1 faces the direction of Saarbrücken Hauptbahnhof; Track 2 runs in the direction of St. Ingbert. The access to tracks 3 and 4 is closed and has been shut down for passenger traffic since 1997. The building with the stairway to tracks 1 and 2 has existed since 1960 and has not been renovated since, so it is no longer in good condition and has a lot of graffiti. In the evening, the station is rather dimly lit. Access to the tracks is only possible via a long staircase and is therefore not barrier-free. There is a ticket machine and roofed seating. The station is not very hygienic or clean. The Ostbahnhof Saarbrücken is frequented by three different regional train lines: RB 68, RB 70 and RB 71. All three lines lead to the main station and away from the main station via the Ostbahnhof in the direction of St. Ingbert. The trains leave the station every half hour in both directions. The first train towards Saarbrücken arrives at 5:07 am and the last at 1:10 am. It takes 3-4 minutes to get to Saarbrücken. Trains in the direction of St. Ingbert leave between 5:19 in the morning and 1:10 at night.
The train station is about a 3-minute walk from the bus stop:
