Student residence Waldhaus

The Waldhaus student residence was built in 1976 and completely renovated in 2010. The Studentenwerk im Saarland e.V. is the provider of this facility, which currently has 323 housing units. Housing is available for individuals as well as for couples and families with children.

Location

The residential complex is characterized by its excellent location, as it is within easy reach of Saarland University, the Saarland University of Applied Sciences (htw saar) and Saarbrücken’s city center.

The walking distance to the campus Rotenbühl is only 3-5 minutes.
Parking spaces for the car are also available on the premises as well as a free parking lot right next to it, which is however always very full during lecture times.

Opposite the dormitory is the Waldhaus sports field and the soccer field next to it.
At Ilseplatz, which can be reached by a 5-minute walk, there is a bakery and a restaurant. The nearest grocery store is Netto in Meerwiesertalweg and is within 15 minutes walking distance.

Transportation

There are 3 bus stops in the immediate vicinity that can be used. The Waldhaus bus stop is just around the corner from the dormitory. Another bus stop is located at Ilseplatz and the last bus stop is Prinzenweiher. Both can be reached within 10min. The trip to Saarland University is about 10 minutes and the city center can be reached comfortably by bus within 15-20 minutes.

Currently, the Waldhaus dormitory has 3 different types of apartments at different prices.

254 single apartments

Equipment: closet, couch with bed base, container, shelf, table, chairs and mini kitchen with wall unit, small bathroom with shower, toilet and washbasin

Living Space: 16 m²

Rent: 280€.

17 Two-Room Apartments

Equipment: identical to the single apartments, but for two students

Living Space: 32 m² (Room with 11 or 16m²)

Rent: 240€ – 282€

14 Family Apartments

Equipment: living room, bedroom, children’s room and with equipped kitchen as well as shower with washbasin and WC

Living Space: 40m²– 80m²

Rent: 539€ – 713€.

In addition, there are also several common rooms in the basements such as TV room, table tennis room, fitness room, group study room, home bar and bicycle cellar and three elevators.
Of course, there is also a laundry room to do your laundry and all Student Union housing units have free internet access.
