It consists of four independent bus platforms, each facing different directions.

Overview: Directly in front of the large parking lot „Alte Einsegnungshalle“ lies the bus stop A. As the only one of all bus platforms with its own stop bay, it is positioned along Metzer Straße in the direction of travel to France. Bus platform B is located about 20 meters southeast on the opposite side of the street in the direction of travel to Saarbrücken, in front of a sports bar. The remaining two bus platforms are found at the crossroad to Metzer Straße in Dr.-Vogeler Straße and are also located oppositely. Stop D in this case is in the direction of travel of Dr.-Vogeler Straße in front of a cemetery nursery.

Services: A total of four bus lines depart from the bus station. Among other things, bus passengers have the opportunity to reach the city center of Saarbrücken, just 5 kilometers away, as well as the main train station of the state capital in less than 20 minutes by car. Cross-border transportation is not possible from the stop.

Particularity of the location: The corner of Metzer-/ Dr.-Vogeler Straße represents a special junction as a whole, since it is located directly in front of the French border and the city of Forbach, directly in the catchment zone of daily border traffic.

Traffic volume: At peak times, there is often a high volume of traffic, especially in the stretch of Metzer Straße. Due to the settlement of two ZF factories in the immediate vicinity and the resulting rush-hour traffic, the highest traffic volume is primarily apparent in the afternoon and early evening hours. In addition, both Germans and French are regularly attracted to the respective neighboring countries due to several purchasing opportunities in the immediate environment. In particular, Saarbrücken’s city center, with its wide range of shopping opportunities, is a popular destination for French people living close to the border. This is also evident through the increased traffic volume, especially on Sunday opening sales days.

Hauptfriedhof Saarbrücken:

The general name giver of the stop is the directly adjacent Saarbrücken Hauptfriedhof, also called Südfriedhof, which is the largest cemetery in southwest Germany with a total area of about 65 hectares. It is equipped with two consecration halls and a modern crematorium. Since 1997, it provides a separate cemetery field for deceased Muslims from the Saarland. The main cemetery was built in 1914 and initially served only as a burial ground for fallen soldiers. In this context, the Allied Cemetery, where soldiers from different countries killed in the war were buried, is still a core part of the Main Cemetery today. Later in 1926, one decided to further extend and enlarge the cemetery. This was followed in 1930 by the erection of a cremation hall and cremation facility.  In addition to new burial grounds, a greenhouse and a service and entrance building were also built. Still, already at that time it was planned to preserve free areas on the cemetery, making it have a park-like character. Until today, historical testimonies and places of contemplation as well as places of rest remind of numerous historical honorary areas.
The main cemetery is open for all citizens of Saarbrücken or persons who have died in the state capital of Saarland and also all persons who formerly lived in the city.  In addition to row graves, it also includes row graves for Muslim citizens, children’s graves, fetal burials, lawn graves, anonymous graves, deeper graves, and above-ground burial chambers. It is also possible to have an urn burial. In addition, historical graves can be obtained. The grave field for Muslims, which was established in 1997, is specially planted like a hedge and faces southeast towards Mecca.
Directly at the main entrance of the Saarbrücken Hauptfriedhof there is also a large information and counseling center. This is used by the Office for City Greens and Cemeteries and the Saarländischer Friedhofsgärtner (Saarland Cemetery Gardeners) permanent grave care service. The latter has its offices in the 200 square meter building. Since then, visitors to the cemetery have been offered the opportunity to obtain information on the topics of „burials and grave care“ on site. The building is completely accessible for the disabled.
