The SULB is the central library in addition to the many specialized libraries that exist on campus. It was founded in 1950. Together with the Medical Library in Homburg/Saar, it is the largest library in Saarland. Here you can find any basic literature for students, journals, magazines and current literature on all disciplines, such as the fields of English Studies, American Studies, German Studies, Romance Studies and Applied Linguistics in the reading rooms. In addition, e-books and e-journals are also offered, as well as a digitization platform.
LOCATION: The SULB is located on the campus of Saarland University. It is about 4.7km to the city. By car it takes about 10 minutes, by bike about 15 minutes and by foot about 50 minutes. In the immediate vicinity of the campus is the Hermann Neuberger Sports School and a wildlife park. Likewise, the Rotenbühl campus of the University of Applied Sciences (htw saar) is very close by, 2.6km further to be exact. The campus of the UdS is very large and offers, among other things, a hairdresser, a student café, the Office of Student Affairs, the AStA and the Student Advisory Office. An internal campus bus from the „Universität Campus“ stop takes you to the UdS canteen.

Arrival by train and bus:
With the lines 101, 102, 111, 112 or 124 (direction „Dudweiler-Dudoplatz“ or „Universität“) you can easily get from the main station or the city hall to the stops „Universität Bot. Garten“ or „Universität Campus“ and takes about 20 minutes. Exact departure times can be found in the Saar timetable.
The SULB is about another 3 minutes walk away. The stop „Universität Campus“ is in front of the building A42. The SULB is located in building B1 1.
Arrival by car:
- From the north from Trier via A1:
-> to freeway junction „Saarbrücken“ -> on A8 direction Karlsruhe -> to freeway junction „Neunkirchen“ -> on A6 direction Saarbrücken -> take exit “ St.Ingbert West“ -> follow the signs „Universität“.
- From the east from Mannheim/Kaiserslautern via A6:
-> take exit „St.Ingbert West“ -> follow the signs „Universität“.
- From the south from Metz/Paris or Strasbourg via A4/E50:
-> follow from freeway Paris via Mannheim (A4,A32,A6) -> take the exit „St.Ingbert West“ -> follow the signs „Universität“.
- From the west from Luxembourg via A6:
-> Motorway A620 to Saarbrücken -> take the exit „Bismarckbrücke“ -> follow the signs „Universität“.
Parking facilities: There is paid parking below the main entrance! (The first hour is usually not chargeable)
The reading rooms are excellent for studying or writing a paper. When you are on site you have the possibility to lock away your bag and jacket in lockers. Drinks and snacks are allowed. Cell phones are not allowed in the reading room. In the library there is a WLAN access, smartboards, scanners, copiers and printers. There are free workstations and separate ones that you can reserve for yourself. Among them there are individual Carrels, as well as group rooms. These are perfect to do your work undisturbed.
As a state library, the SULB offers literature from and about the Saarland. In total, the library offers about 1.7 million stock units, i.e. enough information material for everyone. As a rule, the holdings can all be borrowed. For this, one should observe the usage regulations.

Accessibility:
The SULB creates spatial and technical conditions for a high level of accessibility. To this end, for example, there are ramps and elevators for wheelchair users and workplaces are to be offered for people with a visual impairment.
Opening hours:
The library is generally open Mon-Fri from 08:00am-2:00pm. On Saturdays the library is open from 10:00am-6:00pm to borrow literature or to spend time at the workstations in the reading room.On public holidays the SULB is closed. Media to be picked up on saturdays must be ordered by Thursday.
