There are a total of 2 different police inspection offices that you can turn to: the inspection office in the city or in Saarbrücken-Burbach (Heinrich-Barth-Straße 2).
The police departments differ in their areas of responsibility: the Burbach police department looks after the western parts of Saarbrücken, while the city police department limits its self more to the center.
The downtown station is the largest inspection station and employs the largest number of staff. The St.Johann inspection body has existed in its current form since October 2018.
The Saarbrücken police station is located in the city center. It is a 5-minute walk and about 400 meters from the main train station. It is a 4-minute walk and 300 meters from the Saarbrücken gallery at the train station. Walk along Bahnhofstraße, turn left into Passagestraße, go straight ahead into Karcherstraße and then the police station is on the left, Karcherstraße 5.
Accessibility
As far as the accessibility of the office is concerned, I would say that it is generally easy to get to, on foot, by bus or train or by car. The office itself can only be reached by stairs. What initially looks like an obstacle isn’t, however, because there is an ‚extra bell‘ for people with restricted mobility, after ringing this bell, appropriate people can be granted access via the separate vehicle access. As far as information processing and communication is concerned, there is a counter in the waiting room/anteroom where you can sign your concerns. There were no information boards for the blind, nor any boards with imagery. In the case of a severe disability, an accompanying person would be recommended.
Transport connections
The police station is located in the city center and is easily accessible on foot. The station can also be reached by public transport, such as the train, but you have to walk an additional 5 minutes. There is also a bus stop on the side street in front of the building, Energie SaarLorLux, on Richard-Wagner Straße. The walk from the bus stop to the station is then 4 minutes.
