The police station Alt-Saarbrücken is located at the edge of the historic Ludwigsplatz, which was commissioned by the famous building director Friedrich Joachim Stengel on behalf of Prince Wilhelm Heinrich von Nassau-Saarbrücken with the design and construction in the 1760s.The center of the square is the Ludwigskirche, whose construction was completed only around 1775. It is characterized by its baroque architectural style and its completely white interior. Around the church, in addition to the Police Inspectorate, there are other state institutions, such as the State Chancellery, the French, as well as the Italian Consulate. The houses arranged around the Ludwigskirche served mainly as residential buildings until the beginning of the war, until they finally burned out together with the church in 1944 due to the war.
