Eli.ja is a Catholic church in Saarbrücken, which is mainly aimed at young people, and cooperates with the Youth Diocese of Trier. It is located not far from the city center at Hellwigstr. 15 66121 Saarbrücken. Church services are held several times a week in the evenings, where everyone is invited to participate, for example, musically.
In addition to the typical offers such as the reception of the sacraments or pastoral care, the church community also offers varied activities such as stand up paddling, painting in the painting bar, cooking and baking, but also concerts of all kinds. In the first two weeks of the summer vacations there is a vacation care for children from ten years with activities such as a forest rally, a theater day and excursions.
The community is also very committed to sustainability. Currently, there are the projects Urban Gardening in the „Garden of Eden“, the FairTeiler bread cupboard supervised by Foodsharing and the Verschenkhütte of the initiative Transition Saarbrücken.
The church is very easy to reach by bus and saar-bahn: The nearest bus stops are Lessingstr. and Thüringer Str. and Hellwigstr. is the nearest saar-bahn stop. Not far away you can find several supermarkets like LIDL, ALDI and Netto, as well as the fitness studio FitX.
The Church of Youth eli-ja is not a conventional church community. The people you meet there are modern, tolerant and open-minded and support all kinds of projects, from climate protection to childcare to baking cookies at Christmas time… It is therefore the perfect place to make new contacts and gives support and confidence, especially in difficult times.
